Machining

Machining is a process in which a material (often metal) is cut to a desired final shape and size by a controlled material-removal process. The processes that have this common theme are collectively called subtractive manufacturing, which utilizes machine tools, in contrast to additive manufacturing, which uses controlled addition of material.Machining is a part of the manufacture of many metal products.

HMCs : HMCs also known as Horizontal machining center, are normally used for higher production volumes as they usually have an integrated pallet changer. Also, as materials and parts can be replaced/exchanged while the machine is operating, HMCs provide reduced downtime.

VMCs : Vertical Machining Centers, also known as Vertical Milling Machines, create holes in flat parts. The VMC technology is favored when three-axis work is done on a single face, such as in-mold and die works.

CNCs : CNC also known as computer numerical control. CNC machining is a manufacturing process that utilizes specialized computer programs to instruct the automated design and production of high precision parts for a number of industries. This refers to a broad range of CNC manufacturing processes utilized throughout the production process to create small or large volumes of identical precision parts quickly and efficiently.

Cylinder Granding : The cylindrical grinder is a type of grinding machine used to shape the outside of an object. The cylindrical grinder can work on a variety of shapes, however the object must have a central axis of rotation. This includes but is not limited to such shapes as a cylinder, an ellipse, a cam, or a crankshaft.

VTLs : Vertical turning lathes (VTL) are machines that orient the spindle in the vertical plane in a fixed position. The workpiece then spins, moving up and down to put it in line with the cutting head. These machines are less complex than horizontal lathes.

Drills : Drilling machines, also known as drill presses, use a twist drill to make holes in metal. They also employ a range of other cutting tools to accomplish basic hole-machining operations like reaming, boring, counterboring, countersinking, and tapping internal threads with a tapping attachment.

Lathes : A lathe is a tool that rotates the workpiece on its axis to perform various operations such as cutting, sanding, knurling, drilling, or deformation, facing, turning, with tools that are applied to the workpiece to create an object with symmetry about an axis of rotation.
